Box Score MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Norwich University women's ice hockey team had its seven-game winning streak snapped in a 2-0 loss to No. 1-ranked Middlebury College on Tuesday night at Chip Kenyon '85 Arena in non-conference action.
Senior goalie Alexa Berg (West Fargo, N.D.) tied the program record for the most saves in a single game with 44 saves vs. the undefeated Panthers, but it wasn't enough as Middlebury scored twice in the third period to skate to their 16th straight win to open the season.
Berg tied Celeste Robert's 44 saves vs. Amherst in 2015 and Cindy Fortin's 44 saves vs. Conn. College in 2007. Berg had her consecutive shutout minutes streak snapped at 291:02 when Middlebury's Alexis Ryan scored at the 10:51 mark of the third period to break the scoreless tie. Berg's latest streak set a new program record topping her own previous high mark in 2019-20 when she had a 275:34 consecutive shutout minutes streak.
Norwich (15-5-0) was outshot 46-20 in the game.
The Cadets return home to Kreitzberg Arena to host Salem State at 6 p.m. on Friday and then they'll host their Senior Game on Saturday at 3 p.m. vs. Southern Maine.
