NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich University Football team closed out their 2022 season with a 31-14 defeat at the hands of Catholic Saturday afternoon at Sabine Field.

The Cadets got off to a fast start. After receiving the opening kickoff the Norwich offense marched 65 yards on 15 plays, capped off by a seven yard touchdown rush by junior
Jehric Hackney (Jericho, Vt.). The Cardinals then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and three plays later Quarterback
Mitchell Theal (Elma, N.Y.) found freshman
Tykell Stewart (Locust Grove, Ga.) to put the Cadets ahead 14-0 before Catholic had an offensive possession.

The Cardinals fund their groove in the second quarter. After forcing a three and out senior
Nico Casares (Miami, Fla.) found senior
Preston Jeffery (Smithfield, Va.) for the first of two touchdowns in the second quarter knotting the game at 14 going into halftime. Jeffery would score one more touchdown in the fourth quarter which were part of Catholic's 31 unanswered points. Also prominent for the Cardinals was senior
Kevin Licciardi (East Greenwich, R.I.) who gained 145 yards on 13 carries and the fourth Catholic score.

For the Cadets. Theal finished completing 22 of 32 attempts for 174 yards and the touchdown to Stewart while
Trevor Chase (Eliot, Maine) had 10 receptions for 73 yards. Â Â

This concludes the season for Norwich Football. They finish with a 3-7 record going 2-4 in conference play.
