Box Score WESTON, Mass. – Regis evened things up with four seconds remaining in overtime, but Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) hit a three-point jumper as Norwich downed the Pride, 82-79, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tilt Thursday night on Higgins Court.
Jalen Olivero (Holyoke, Mass.) scored 25 points in the win, while registering eight rebounds and adding seven assists. Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, Ga.) added another 19 points while bringing in seven boards, while Booth and Samuel-Noah Osarenkhoe (Stockholm, Sweden) added 14 points each in the overtime win.
Regis led the Cadets 11-9 before jumping out on a 12-point run that ended with 10:06 on the clock in the first half. Regis held a double-digit lead until Osarenkhoe hit a jumper with 54 seconds remaining in the first half, cutting the Pride lead down to eight. Regis scored four unanswered points to close out the first half with a 12-point lead.
Norwich finally took a lead with 14:28 remaining in the second half, after Booth hit a three-pointer giving the Cadets a 44-33 lead. After jumping out to a nine-point lead, after a pair of made free throws by Olivero, Thomas Ahlstrom hit a three-pointer on the other side of the court making the score 73-70. Regis' Marc Trinidad then stole the ball and Zakaria Latifi hit a three with eight seconds remaining to even the score, forcing overtime.
In overtime, Norwich again found themselves with a three-point lead with 11.1 seconds remaining on the clock when the Pride took a timeout. Regis was able to find Pike on the inbounds pass and he was able to find space on the right side of the court to knock down a three-point jumper to knot the game at 79 with four seconds remaining. Norwich then pushed up court when Spencer Conatser (Reno, Nev.) found Booth open for the game winning three-pointer.
Norwich (7-4, 2-1 GNAC) will be in action on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. when they continue GNAC play against Lasell. The Cadets will then face Anna Maria Wednesday, Jan. 12 in Paxton, Mass.
