Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's ice hockey team downed New England College 10-0 on Friday night at Kreitzberg Arena in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.
Freshman forward Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.) had a career-night, tallying her first career hat trick to go along with two more assists for a five-point night to lead the Cadets to their second straight game scoring 10 goals.
Norwich (14-4-0, 12-1-0 NEHC) fired 75 shots on net, the second most in a single game in program history. The Cadets also recorded their fifth straight shutout, to move within one of the team record set in 2019-20. Sophomore Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.) stopped all eight shots she faced to earn her second shutout of the season and fourth of her career.
Norwich had 14 different skaters on the scoresheet in the victory, including 11 with a multi-point night.
Girouard scored the game's first goal at the 2:07 mark of the first period off assists from Melianne Reynolds (Sherbrooke, Quebec) and Kayla Goleniak (Canton, Mich.).
Freshman Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick) scored twice to continue her recent scoring tear, while Reynolds added a goal and two assists.
Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, Ontario), Julia Masotta (Tewksbury, Mass.), Ingrid Holstad-Berge (Stavanger, Norway) and Aimee Headland (Nottingham, United Kingdom) each scored goals as well to lead Norwich to the victory.
Norwich will travel to New England College on Sunday, Jan. 30 for a 1 p.m. faceoff with the Pilgrims to complete the home-and-home series. The game was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. on Saturday, but was pushed to Sunday due to impending inclement weather in the Henniker, N.H. area.
