Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's ice hockey team rolled to a 10-0 victory over Johnson & Wales on Wednesday afternoon in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at Kreitzberg Arena.
Freshman Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.) and Carly Gout (Bobcaygeon, Ontario) each scored their first collegiate goals, while senior goalie Alexa Berg (West Fargo, N.D.) stopped all 15 shots she faced to extend her shutout streak to 240:11 consecutive minutes.
Senior defenseman Kayla Goleniak (Canton, Mich.) scored a shorthanded unassisted goal at the 9:38 mark of the first period to give the Cadets a lead they would never look back from as 15 different skaters got on the scoresheet in the victory.
Norwich (13-4-0, 11-1-0 NEHC) won its fifth straight game as it heads into a home-and-home series with New England College on Friday and Saturday. The Cadets host the Pilgrims at 6 p.m. on Friday in Kreitzberg Arena.
Junior forward Ann-Frederique Guay (St. Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec) continued her recent hot streak, netting two goals and adding another assist for three points. Senior Maddie Moell (Clarence Center, N.Y.) added three assists as well to tie Guay for the team-point lead in the game.
Senior defenseman Emma O'Neill (Hamburg, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season, while Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, Ontario), Molly Flanagan (Lutz, Fla.), Aimee Headland (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and Melianne Reynolds (Sherbrooke, Quebec) all tallied goals.
Norwich scored three goals in the first period, exploded for five more in the second period and the finished up with two goals in the third period as the Cadets tallied a season-high goal total.
