Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Norwich University men's basketball team went blow for blow with the Falcons in the first half, going into the halftime break down by six. But Albertus Magnus erupted for 48 points in the second half to down the Cadets, 85-55, in the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center Sunday afternoon.
Norwich leading points scorer was Samuel-Noah Osarenkhoe (Stockholm, Sweden) who hit f-of-8 from the field including three shots from long range for 15 points. Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Osarenkhoe opened the game making his first jumper on the Cadets opening possession, before the Falcons scored the next five points to take a 5-2 lead. Spencer Conatser (Reno, Nev.) and Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savanah, Ga.) scored the ensuing five points, before the Falcons' Kevin Crawford hit a layup to tie the contest at 7-7.
Norwich and the Falcons battled to a 19-19 tie with 11:04 remaining. With a tie at 22-22 Terry Dawkins hit a jumper to put the Falcons ahead 24-22, a lead they would not relinquish.
In the second half, Albertus Magnus' offense exploded outscoring the Cadet offense by 24 points, doubling up the Cadets offensive output 48-24.
Norwich (9-7, 4-4 GNAC) will play host to Anna Maria on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. Norwich will then go to Rivier for a 1 p.m. battle with the Raiders on Saturday, Jan. 29.
