Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Lasell University on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Watt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) made 11 saves, but it wasn't enough as Norwich (2-3, 1-3 GNAC) had its two-game winning streak snapped at the hand of the formidable Lasers.
Priscilla Martinelli scored in the 16th minute for Lasell (3-2, 3-0 GNAC) off an assist from Alex Lorenzo to give the Lasers a lead that they would never look back from.
Lorenzo played a corner-kick service from Serena Speight over to the center of the goal and then Martinelli buried the ball into the center of the net from point-blank range to give Lasell the 1-0 lead.
Alyssa DeOliveira made it 2-0 Lasell with a rocket shot from 25-yards out that beat Watt to the far post off an assist from Maria Henriquez in the 39th minute.
Speight capped the scoring in the 67th minute with a goal off an assist from Narissa Libby to make it 3-0 Lasers. Speight buried the ball into the left corner of the net from outside the penalty box for the goal.
Lasell outshot Norwich 27-5 for the game. Kyle Swann picked up the victory in goal for the Lasers after making two saves. Norwich senior Sara Marcotte (Enfield, Conn.) led the Cadets with two shots.
The Cadets will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25 when they host Johnson & Wales University as part of Norwich Homecoming Weekend 2021 at 6 p.m. on Sabine.
