Box Score HENNIKER, N.H. - The Norwich University men's ice hockey team edged New England College 2-1 on Friday night at the Lee Clement Arena.
Norwich (6-1) got goals from senior Michael Korol (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and freshman Brent Rickett (Portland, Maine) as the Cadets got back to their winning ways after losing to Conn. College last time out.
Junior Drennen Atherton (Winter Haven, Fla.) made 20 saves to improve to 5-0-0 on the season. Atherton surrendered his first goal of the season, snapping his shutout streak at 272:21 to open his Norwich career.
Korol scored off assists from Noah Williams (Cortland, N.Y.) and Michael Green (Montreal, Quebec) at the 8:45 mark of the second period for his second goal of the season.
NEC (3-6) tied the game back up at 1-1 at the 12:21 mark of the second period.
Rickett scored the game-winning goal at the 4:10 mark of the third period with his second goal of the season off an assist from Felix Brassard (St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec).
Norwich outshot New England College 35-21 in the game for its fourth straight win over the Pilgrims.
Norwich and New England College will finish off the home-and-home series on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Kreitzberg Arena.
