Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's basketball team was not able to overcome the hot shooting on Eastern Nazarene on Thursday evening, falling to the Lions 79-45.
Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.) led all Cadet scorers with 20 points, while Skylar Burzynski (Orange, Conn.) and Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) both added eight points. McGinn also pulled down seven boards in the contest.
The Lions scored the first eight points of the contest before Brewster and Hannah Stitely (Westminster, Md.) combined for the next five. Norwich evened things up at 10-10 before grabbing eight of the next 10 points scored to go into the second quarter with a 18-12 lead.
Eastern Nazarene was able to use a big second quarter to double up the Cadets 18-9 in the frame before out scoring the Cadets again in the third.
In the final frame Norwich and Eastern Nazarene were able to even things up with both teams scoring 20 points each in the fourth quarter to finish the game.
Norwich (3-5, 1-0 GNAC) will take on the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. The Cadets will then face off against Elms in their first contest of the New Year on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. in Andrews Hall.
