Men's Basketball: Cadets Defeat NVU Lyndon in Final Home Game of 2021

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's basketball team used hot shooting 59.6 percent from the field and had four players score in double figures as they defeated NVU Lyndon 97-77 Wednesday night in Andrews Hall.

The Cadets closed out the 2021 season with Spencer Conatser (Reno, Nev.) score a team-high 20 points hitting six of his seven attempts from the field, including three shots from long range. Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) added 16 points while pulling down 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

Owen Liss (West Suffield, Conn.) came off the bench to score 16 points and Jalen Olivero (Holyoke, Mass.) added 15 points and five assists in the victory.

The Hornets took an early 15-12 advantage with 14:03 remaining on the clock in the first half before Olivero hit a jumper that was followed up by a pair of threes from Jaydon Cousin (Savannah, Ga.) and Kohlby Murray (Fair Have, Vt.) that put the Cadets up by five.

Norwich was able to extend their lead to as many as 13 points in the first half but NVU Lyndon was able to stay within 10 at the halftime break, with the Cadets leading 43-33.

Norwich scored the opening seven points of the second half with the Cadets taking a 50-33 lead, when Zach Falkenburg scored three of his game-high 22 points in the contest with a long-range jumper. The Hornets battled to a nine point deficit, but the Cadets were able to continue scoring expanding their lead to 23 points, but NVU Lyndon hit a pair of three pointers at the end of the contest to cut the lead to 17 before Conatser closed out the contest with his own.

Norwich (6-3, 1-0 GNAC) travels to Johnson & Wales on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. to close out their slate of games in 2021.  The Cadets will then open up the New Year hosting Elms on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m.
