Box Score GORHAM, Maine – The Norwich University women's ice hockey team extended its New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) unbeaten streak to 55 straight games with a 3-1 win over Southern Maine on Friday night.
Junior forward Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, Ontario) scored a goal and added an assist, while freshman forward Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.) notched two assists.
After a scoreless first period, Norwich (5-2-0, 5-0-0 NEHC) scored just 46 seconds into the middle frame with Baptiste scoring on the power play off assists from Girouard and Molly Flanagan (Lutz, Fla.)
Southern Maine knotted the game back up at 1-1 with a power-play goal of its own at the 5:38 mark of the second period.
Julia Masotta (Tewksbury, Mass.) gave Norwich the lead again at the 11:44 mark of the second period off assists from Girouard and Morgan Tefft (Redwood City, Calif.).
Jillian Jackson (Fredericton, New Brunswick) capped the scoring at the 1:32 mark of the third period off assists from Aimee Headland (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and Baptiste.
Norwich outshot Southern Maine 45-13. Senior goalie Alexa Berg (West Fargo, N.D.) made 12 saves to pick up the victory.
The Cadets travel to Salem State on Saturday for a 3 p.m. puck drop in Salem, Mass.
