Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University women's ice hockey team fell 2-0 to Trinity (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon at Kreitzberg Arena in non-conference action.
The No. 7-ranked Cadets (4-2-0, 4-0-0 NEHC) dropped their second straight non-conference contest and lost for the first time to Trinity since 2010. The Cadets had won the previous four meetings and also won an exhibition contest at Kreitzberg Arena last season.
Senior goalie Alexa Berg (West Fargo, N.D.) made 21 saves in goal for the Cadets and fell to 2-2 on the season.
After a scoreless first period, Trinity (1-0-0, 0-0-0 NESCAC) opened the scoring with Ellie Fellows stuffing home a loose puck in the crease off an assist by Stephanie Nevers off a centering pass from behind the net.
Trinity capped the scoring with an empty-net goal with 0.3 seconds left in the game as Angelica Mushenko shoveled the puck home on a breakaway.
Norwich had its chances to score with Taylor Girouard (Burlington, Mass.) having a chance on a shorthanded breakaway in the third period that she sailed wide of the net. Ann-Frederique Guay (St. Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec) had a goal called back after she high-sticked the puck into the back of the net in the second period. Senior Kenady Nevicosi (Breckenridge, Colo.) also hit the post in the second period.
Norwich will look to re-group when it travels to Southern Maine on Dec. 3 for a 6 p.m. NEHC puck drop.
