MEDFORD, Mass. – The Norwich University women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday night against Lesley, defeating the Lynx 66-50.

The Cadets leading scorer was MacKenzie Moore (Georgia, Vt.) who came off the bench to produce 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting while converting all four of her attempts from the free-throw line. Silas Bernier (Jaffrey, N.H.), Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.), and Erika Thomas (Burlington, N.C.) all scored 10 points each, with McGinn leading the Cadets in rebounds with eight.

Lesley scored the first basket of the game before McGinn opened things up for the Cadets, scoring their first four points of the game. Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.), Hannah Stitely (Westminster, Md.), and Skylar Burzynski (Orange, Conn.) combined for the next five points to extend the Cadet lead to six with 3:25 remaining in the first quarter.

After holding a 17-8 lead entering the second frame, Lesley closed the gap to three points with 5:06 remaining in the half before Brittany Graham (Rye, N.H.) kicked off an 8-2 run that helped lead the Cadets to a 32-25 lead. McKenna Rodriquenz made a layup with 12 seconds remaining in the half to cut the lead to five before entering the halftime break.

Brewster kicked off the second half with a three-point jumper, before Bernier converted a second on their next trip down. Norwich opened the half on a 9-2 run before Kizziah Ruff knocked down a three to cut the Norwich lead down to 12.

Norwich went into the third quarter holding a 50-39 lead before outscoring Lesley 16-11 in the final frame to take control of the match.

Norwich (1-3, 0-0 GNAC) will face off against NVU Johnson on Friday, Nov. 19 in a 3 p.m. tilt against the Badgers. They are then scheduled to play against Colby-Sawyer in the first round of the Hockenbury Classic on Friday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
