Box Score CASTLETON, Vt.- The Norwich University women's volleyball team was victorious Wednesday in a non-conference tilt against the Spartans of Castleton in the Glenbrook Gym, winning 3-0 (25-5, 25-12, 25-16)
Norwich (6-5, 0-3 GNAC) controlled play with 31 kills as a team, with 9 service aces, and six total blocks. The Cadets were led by Maggie McNeil (Gilford, N.H.) had eight kills and five service aces collecting 14 points, with two block assists. Addison Hall (Apple Valley, Calif.) had nine kills an ace and four block assists, and Ana Lopez (Laredo, Texas) added eight kills with a solo block.
In the first set, Norwich jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Spartans put their first point on the board with a kill by Cailin Moskow. The Cadets then used a 16-point run, using three service aces from McNeil to jump out to a 21-1 lead. After the Spartans scored four of the next five points, Norwich closed out the set with a kill by Julia Schroeder (Victorville, Calif.) off an assist by Sarah Farnum (North Andover, Mass.).
Norwich continued to dominate play in the second set, starting the set with a nine-point run. With the score 22-12, Norwich scored three straight points, closing out the set with a 25-12 win.
Castleton (4-10, 0-3 LEC) would fall in the third set after scoring four straight points to close the gap to eight points, before ultimately falling to the Cadets 25-16.
Norwich will continue action on Saturday, Oct. 9 when they host a tri-match in Andrews Hall against Rivier and Saint Joseph's College. The Cadets will again play at home on Wednesday, Oct. 13 against Lasell at 6 p.m.
