Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich University volleyball team defeated Colby-Sawyer Wednesday night in Andrews Hall 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-19) on Senior Night.
Prior to the match, Norwich honored the contributions of four team members to the volleyball program. Addison Hall (Apple Valley, Calif.), Olivia Brown (Rye, N.H.), Julia Schroeder (Victorville, Calif.), and Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) were recognized.
Kathryn Farnum earned her sixth double-double of the year with 17 kills and 12 digs in the win. Ana Lopez (Laredo, Texas) also recorded double-digit kills, and Sarah Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) assisted on 43 of the Cadets' 49 kills.
In the opening frame, the Cadets gave up the first three points before Sarah Farnum earned a kill to spark a 11-1 run. After Colby-Sawyer battled back to within one of the Cadets, Norwich rattled off three points in a row to take command 19-15 and went on to close out the Chargers.
In the second set with the score tied 15-15, Norwich scored 11 of the final 14 points of the set to win 25-18.
Norwich did not allow the Chargers to score multiple points in a row until the Cadets had a 14-8 lead. Norwich was able to prevent any runs by Colby-Sawyer on their way to the victory.
Norwich (13-6, 7-4 GNAC) will face University of St. Joseph on Saturday, Oct. 30 when the Blue Jays host a tri-match with the Cadets and Anna Maria to close out the regular season.
