Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's soccer team struck first, but was unable to hold Anna Maria at bay, eventually falling 2-1 to the AMCATS in overtime Wednesday night at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium in their final game of the season.
Prior to the game the Cadets celebrated a group of five seniors. Lindsey Gordon (Wiscasset, Maine), Julia Koron (Pittsford, N.Y.), Karyssa Lachance (Gorham, N.H.), Sara Marcotte (Enfield, Conn.), and Kim Watt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) were all recognized for their achievements with the program.
In the 41st minute of the match, Norwich got on the board after a foul by the AMCATS inside the box, gave Koron a penalty kick opportunity that she then converted giving the Cadets the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
After the half, Anna Maria came back with a penalty kick goal of there own that Keannah Dunsmore converted in the 61st minute. The AMCATS would keep attacking the net but Gordon stopped the final two shots she faced to force the game to overtime.
Anna Maria would break through in the first overtime period with Olympia Myers finding Riley Michaud in front of the net to score the game winner 3:22 into the period.
