Box Score 2 NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team left New Haven, Conn. with a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victories against Dean and Albertus Magnus, sweeping both teams.
Norwich (10-6, 4-4 GNAC) defeated Dean 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-17) and Albertus Magnus 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 27-25).
In game one against the Bulldogs, Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) had 14 of her 28 kills on the day, while Maggie McNeil (Gilford, N.H.) also recorded double-digit kills with 12. Sarah Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) recorded 36 assists and Laura Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) had 11 digs to lead the Cadets in game one. Addison Hall (Apple Valley, Calif.) recorded nine kills while leading the team with a .375 hitting percentage.
After trading points to a 7-6 deficit, Norwich used a five-point run to take command 11-7. Julia Schroeder (Victorville, Calif.) would spark a six-point run later in the set with a kill.
Norwich jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the second set, they closed out a 21-16 lead by winning the final four points.
A 10-1 start to the third set, allowed the Cadets to close out the final the match 25-17.
Against the Falcons, Hall was a part of five blocks in the match, while scoring 13.5 points. Laura Farnum earned another 16 kills and Hall and Ana Lopez (Laredo, Texas) each earned seven kills.
After gathering a 16-11 lead, Norwich scored the final nine points to end the first set with the victory.
In the second set the Falcons scored three points straight, to close the Cadet lead down to two, before Norwich again used a five-point run to take command of the set.
Norwich went down 25-24 in the third set, but the Cadets used a kills by Hall and Sarah Farnum and a service ace by Olivia Brown (Rye, N.H.) to win the match with a 27-25 victory in the third set.
Norwich will face off against Elms on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in Andrews Hall in a key GNAC matchup.
