Box Score PINE VALLEY, N.Y. - The Norwich University women's ice hockey team lost 3-1 to Elmira College in its second straight game vs. the Soaring Eagles on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Murray Athletic Center.
Norwich (10-3-1, 7-0-0 NEHC) scored first, but Elmira scored three unanswered goals, including two in the third period to pull away for the victory over the Cadets.
Senior forward Sophie McGovern (Hermantown, Minn.) scored her seventh goal of the season off assists from Carley Sedlar (Howell, Mich.) and Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) at the 11:23 mark of the first period.
However, Elmira leveled the score at the 16:28 mark with Eliza Beaudin scoring for the Soaring Eagles. Ariella Haas and Emma Crocker scored goals past the midway point of the third period to clinch the victory for EC.
Norwich sophomore goalie Alexa Berg (West Fargo, N.D.) made 27 saves for the Cadets in goal. Elizabeth Hanson made 25 saves for Elmira to pick up the win. Elmira outshot Norwich 30-26 in the game.
Norwich has still has yet to win at the Murray Athletic Center in eight trips to Elmira with a 0-6-2 record. Elmira beat Norwich 4-2 to open te 2018-19 season in a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship game.
Saturday's game marked the first of seven straight on the road for the Cadets. Norwich will travel to Amherst on Tuesday, Jan. 14 for another non-conference matchup. NU returns to NEHC play next Saturday with a road matchup at Plymouth State.
