Women's Hockey: Norwich shuts out Johnson & Wales, 4-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Norwich University women's ice hockey team secured its sixth unbeaten NEHC regular season title on Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 win over Johnson & Wales to close out the regular season.

Junior forward Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) scored twice to bring her NCAA Division III-leading goal total to 27 on the season. Senior Adrieana Rossini (Malden, Mass.) and junior Brynn Wopperer (Amherst, N.Y) each scored goals as well to round out the Cadets' offensive leaders.

In goal, freshman Kate Winstanley (Lansdale, Pa.) stopped all 16 shots she faced to record her second career shutout and improve to 3-0-0. 

Norwich outshot JWU 45-16 in the game in a penalty-filled affair. Norwich was whistled for 10 minors, while Johnson & Wales was called for seven.

Norwich (18-5-2, 15-0-1 NEHC) is now 141-5-5 in the last nine seasons in NEHC league games. 

After a scoreless first 40 minutes, Norwich scored four times in the third to pull away from the Wildcats. 

Norwich earned the No. 1 seed for the NEHC Tournament for the ninth straight year and will host Salem State on Saturday, Feb. 16 in a NEHC Quarterfinal matchup at Kreitzberg Arena.
