Women's Soccer: Watt sets new career-high in saves, but Norwich falls 5-0 to Lasell

Box Score

NEWTON, Mass. - Freshman goalkeeper Kim Watt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) of the Norwich University women's soccer team made a career-high 18 saves, but it wasn't enough as the Cadets fell 5-0 to perennial GNAC powerhouse Lasell University on Saturday afternoon.

Watt's 18 saves, eclipsed her previous career-high of 17 saves set earlier this season vs. Johnson & Wales.

Watt was the lone bright spot for Norwich as the Cadets were outshot 33-1 in the game. Lasell took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute with a goal by Melissa Vasquez and never looked back, adding on four more goals with one in the final minute of the first half and then three more in the second half.

Norwich (5-9-1, 4-5-1 GNAC) had its two-game winning streak snapped in the loss. Lasell improved to 6-9-0 overall and 6-3-0 in GNAC play.

Despite the loss, Norwich remained in a tie for seventh place with Albertus Magnus with the top eight teams in the GNAC standings making the playoffs. The Cadets can take a major step towards getting into the playoffs for the first time since 2011 on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they take on Anna Maria at 3 p.m.
