NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's soccer team continued its strong start to the 2018 season with an impressive 6-0 victory over Pine Manor College on Saturday afternoon in its home opener on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium. 

Junior Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt.) continued her hot start in the Maroon & Gold uniform, scoring twice and also tallying assist to lead the Cadets' offense in the victory. 

Sophomores Krista Caione (Wingdale, N.Y.), Kyra Schoenfeld (South Hadley, Mass.) and Isabella Leister (Hartland, Vt.), as well as Karyssa Lachance (Gorham, N.H.) each tallied a goal to round out the Norwich goal scorers. 

Norwich (2-0, 0-0 GNAC) took the lead just 4:05 into the game with Lachance scoring her second of the season in as many games, beating Pine Manor goalkeeper Kristina Guinta to the bottom left corner of the net. 

Lemmer made it 2-0 at the 13:15 mark with her second of the season, while Caione pushed the lead to 3-0 just over a minute later off an assist from Sydney Rocheville (Salem, Mass.). 

Schoenfeld extended the lead to 4-0 at the 19:12 mark, one touching a beautiful feed to the back post from Lemmer on a corner kick. 

Lemmer scored her team-leading third goal of the season at the 56:27 mark of the second half to make it 5-0. Leister capped the scoring at the 78:13 mark, tucking a ball just under the cross bar from 10 yards out off an assist from Morgan Smith (Northfield, Vt.). 

Sophomore Katie Bishop-Manning (New York, N.Y.) made one save in the first half to improve to 2-0 on the season in net. Freshman Kim Watt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was untested in the second half as she made her collegiate debut. 

Pine Manor's Guinta made nine saves in the loss for the Gators. 

Norwich's 2-0 start is its best since the 2014 season when it also started out 2-0 with wins over NVU Lyndon and NVU Johnson. 

The Cadets will look to make it three in a row on Wednesday when they host NVU Johnson at 7 p.m. on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium in another non-conference game.
