Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Norwich University baseball team took on Marywood University as it continued its spring break trip on Tuesday.

The Pacers swept the Cadets with a 6-0 win in game one and an 18-3 victory in game two.

In game one, Marywood leapt out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning and added three more in the bottom of the fifth for the 6-0 lead.

Senior first baseman Ed Gates (Griswold, Conn.) delivered two hits to lead the Norwich offense.

Freshman Luke Johansen (Doylestown, Penn.) took the loss to fall to 0-1 after allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks over four and one-third innings. He stuck out six batters in the effort, a new career high.

Sophomore Nick Landis (South Berwick, Maine) tossed one and two-third innings of scoreless relief, allowing just three hits while striking out one.

In game two, the Pacers once again took an early lead, scoring seven runs in the top of the first inning and two in the top of the second for an 8-0 lead.

Marywood added one more run in the top of the third before the Norwich bats came alive in the home half of the inning. Sophomore DH Andrew Fisher (Tewksbury, Mass.) singled to right field, scoring fellow sophomore third baseman Brandon Profita (New Milford, Conn.) from third to cut it to 8-1.

The Pacers tacked on eight more runs in the top of the fourth and the Cadets responded with another run in the bottom of the fifth. Freshman right fielder Dylan Czachor (Castleton, Vt.) drove home sophomore shortstop Chris Dayos (Temecula, Calif.) on a fielder's choice to make it 16-2.

In the bottom of the seventh sophomore pinch-hitter Ryan Pellath (Stephens City, Va.) lifted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Dayos for an 18-3 score.

Sophomore Casey Lemke (Winter Garden, Fla.) fell to 0-1 after surrendering five earned runs on two hits and two walks in one-third of an inning of work.

The Cadets fall to 0-8 on the season and are back in action on Thursday, March 15th when they take on Delaware Valley at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
