Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's basketball team defeated the Mustangs of Mount Ida College on Tuesday by a 69-42 final score, highlighted by Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) notching her 1,000 career point in the win.
Norwich controlled things from end to end, taking the lead in the first quarter and never letting it go, cruising to the 27-point victory.
All eyes were on Shyann Josler from the start, as she needed just 15 points to reach the 1,000 career point mark heading into today's game. She did just that with 2 minutes and 50 seconds left in the fourth quarter, as she sank a free throw to become just the 18th women's basketball player at Norwich to reach four digits in career points.
Josler ended the day with a 16 point, 10 rebound double-double to lead the Cadets. Freshman Riley Bennett (Hopkinton, N.H.) poured in 11 points, and Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.) pulled down a commanding 13 rebounds on the day. Norwich outpaced their opponents in just about every statistical category, including; rebounds (48-31), assists (14-9), points in the paint (40-10), and bench points (17-7).
The win bumps the Cadets up to 9-11 on the year and an even 6-6 within the GNAC. It's right back to the Mustangs for their next contest, as Norwich travels to Mount Ida on Thursday for the second game in a row against their GNAC rival.
