Men's Basketball: Booth gets 1,000th career point, Cadets fall to SJC, 84-68

Box Score

STANDISH, Maine - The Norwich University men's basketball team wrapped up regular season play on Saturday, dropping a conference matchup to the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine by an 84-68 final score.

The game was tightly contested through the first half and partway through the second, as Norwich hung with the Monks for the better part of the game. However, about midway through the second half, the Monks put together what would prove to be a decisive 12-3 run that gave them all the breathing room they needed to coast to the 84-68 victory.

For the Cadets, the highlight of the game came midway through the second half when senior Ryan Booth (Northfield, Vt.) hit a three-pointer to become the newest member of the 1,000 career point club. Booth ended up with a team-high 21 points on the day, along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Jesse Davis (Woodinville, Wash.) collected 16 of his own points, and Mike Hogervorst (Leiden, Netherlands) had 11 points and 8 rebounds. Darian Berry led all scorers with 30 points for the Monks.

The loss finalizes the Cadets' 2017-18 overall record at 10-15 and 7-9 within the conference. Sitting at the #7 seed in the conference, Norwich will face off with Johnson & Wales University in the first round of the GNAC playoffs this coming Tuesday.
