Box Score WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Norwich University women's basketball team hit the road on Thursday afternoon to take on the Blue Jays of the University Saint Joseph (Conn.) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action, picking up the win by a 57-38 final score.
A closely contested first quarter gave way to a dominating second quarter of play by the Cadets, who outscored the Blue Jays by a 15-2 count before the break. USJ tried to rally back from the 29-13 halftime deficit, even outscoring Norwich 14-13 in the third quarter. The rally fell far short, however, as Norwich walked away with the 57-38 victory, their fourth GNAC victory of the year.
Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) led the Cadets with 14 points and 4 steals on the night and junior Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds, as well as collecting 5 points and a pair of assists. As a team, the Cadets outpaced the Blue Jays in 3-point shooting percentage (28.6%-6.3%), rebounds (55-43), bench points (16-5), and assists (14-8).
Norwich returns to the court for another GNAC faceoff on Saturday, this time against the Lasers of Lasell College at 3:00 PM in Andrews Hall.
