Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior forward Adrieana Rossini (Malden, Mass.) scored twice to lead the Norwich University women's hockey team to a 4-1 victory over No. 10-ranked Endicott College on Wednesday evening at Kreitzberg Arena.
Senior forward Nicole Goebel (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) also scored a shorthanded goal, which proved to be the game-winning goal in her 100th career game in the Maroon & Gold.
Sophomore forward Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) also scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season, while senior goalie Laurie King (Waddington, N.Y.) made 19 saves to pick up the win in goal for the Cadets.
Norwich (13-1-1, 7-0-0 NEHC) opened the scoring at the 14:17 mark of the third period with Conway scoring a pretty top shelf goal, over the glove of Endicott goalie Vendela Jonsson to give the Cadets the lead. Conway sniped the top right corner of the net off assists from Sophie McGovern (Hermantown, Minn.) and Bryn Labbe (Calgary, Alberta). Labbe won a battle along the way and pushed the puck up to McGovern who hit Conway in stride. Conway skated down the left wing, entered the zone and then crossed over through the slot before firing a shot into the net.
The Cadets extended the lead to 2-0 at the 1:55 mark of the second period with Goebel collecting her own rebound after capitalizing on a Endicott defensive zone turnover to slide the puck behind Jonsson for her fourth goal of the season.
Endicott (13-2-1, 5-0-1 Colonial) got on the board at the 14:48 mark of the second period with a power play goal by Lauren Ferraiuolo. Ferraiuolo sent a soft wrist shot in from the point that beat King five-hole with a screen by Caroline Hughes, who picked up the assist on the goal after playing the puck back to Ferraiuolo.
Norwich needed just over a minute to respond as Rossini scored her first of the game and 10th of the season off assists from Alyssa Hulst (Scarborough, Maine) and Sarah Schwenzfeier (Hingham, Mass.). Rossini collected the puck at the right side of the net and circled behind the cage before shoveling the puck inside the left post at the 16:05 mark of the second period.
Rossini capped the scoring with her 11th of the season on an empty net off assists from Conway and Carly Menges (Novelty, Ohio).
Jonsson made 33 saves for Endicott to fall to 10-2-1 on the season. King improved to 11-1-1 on the year.
Norwich scored its second shorthanded goal of the season with Desirae Kuhlmann (Swift Current, Saskatchewan) notching the other in the team's second game of the year vs. Stevenson University.
Norwich will now travel to No. 3 Elmira College for a huge showdown with the Soaring Eagles on Saturday at 3 p.m.
