Box Score AUBURNDALE, Mass. – The Norwich University women's basketball team picked up their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season on Tuesday evening with a 59-41 victory over the Lasell College Lasers.
The story of the game was the dominance of Norwich's senior co-captains, Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) and Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.). Harrison dominated the rebounding game, pulling down 15 rebounds on the day, five of which came on the offensive glass. The Vermont native also dropped in 11 points to complete her second double-double of her senior season. Her classmate managed to put together an equally impressive performance, as Josler collected her first double-double of the season via 26 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing out six assists and recording four steals.
The duo helped Norwich to a dominating victory, as Norwich grabbed the lead early on in the first quarter and never lost it. The Cadets held an advantage in rebounds (48-32), field goal percentage (36.8%-29.1%), points off turnovers (18-10), points in the paint (28-16), and bench points (13-3). As the clock wound down in the fourth quarter, Norwich cruised to the 18-point victory over the Lasers, taking the game by a 59-41 final score.
With the win, Norwich improves their overall record to 5-7 on the season, with a 2-3 mark in their all-important GNAC contests. The Cadets are back in action this Thursday night when they hit the road for another GNAC faceoff, this time with the Rams of Suffolk University at 5:00 PM.
