NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team moved to within one win of tying the longest winning streak in program history with its ninth straight victory in a 3-0 defeat of Newbury College on Wednesday night in Andrews Hall Gymnasium. 

Norwich (9-3, 1-0 GNAC) won by scores of 25-8, 25-16 and 25-17 in its second-ever meeting with Newbury College. 

Freshman Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) registered a team-high nine kills to lead the offense as the Cadets improved to 6-0 on their home floor in 2017. She posted a career-high .818 attacking percentage. 

Sophomore Michele Zummo (Highland Mills, N.Y.) had seven kills and a team-leading eight digs in the match, while freshman middle hitter Julia Schroeder (Victorville, Calif.) notched six kills and three service aces.   

Sophomore Monika Schneider (Brookline, N.H.) had two kills and a team-leading six service aces as the Cadets tallied 22 aces as a team. She also had six digs in the match. 

Junior setter Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) paced the offense with 24 assists. She also tallied three service aces, three digs and two kills. Sophomore libero Brianna Dawson (Katonah, N.Y.) have seven digs. 

Norwich faces the toughest test of its season on Saturday at 11 a.m. when it hosts Emmanuel College in its first GNAC home contest of the season.
