Women's Soccer: JWU blanks Norwich, 5-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Norwich University women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to Johnson & Wales (R.I.) on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. 

Senior Leandra Flores-Nieves (Colorado Springs, Colo.) made 10 saves in her first game action of the season, but Johnson & Wales managed to get five goals past her to cruise to the victory.

Flores-Nieves came in for freshman Katie Bishop-Manning (New York, N.Y.) after the Cadets' starter had to leave the game with an injury just a couple minutes into the game. Johnson & Wales (4-1, 2-0 GNAC) built up a 4-0 lead by halftime and then added one more goal in the second half to extend its winning streak to five straight games vs. Norwich. 

The Wildcats outshot Norwich 29-4 in the game. Deja Hursey scored a hat trick to lead JWU to the victory.

Freshman Sydney Rocheville (Salem, Mass.) led the Cadets with two shots on goal. 

Norwich (1-3, 1-1 GNAC) will look to get back on track when it travels to St. Joseph (Conn.) for a 1 p.m. kickoff vs. the Bluejays in Hartford, Conn.
