Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Making her collegiate debut, freshman backstop Katie Bishop-Manning (New York City, N.Y.) made eight saves as the Norwich University women's soccer team recorded a 3-0 loss to Colby-Sawyer College on Friday.
Norwich falls to 0-1 on the season while the Chargers copped their sixth-straight victory over the Cadets dating back to the 2012 season.
Hannah Fields scored the first two goals of the game for Colby-Sawyer, picking up passes from Haley Thurber and Morgan Keene, respectively. Fields returned the favor in the second half for Natalie Shear, who received a quick pass and scored from over 30 yards out to create a 3-0 lead.
Colby-Sawyer held the narrow edge in shots taken, 22-to-15, but yielded six of the game's 11 corner kicks to the Cadets. Freshman Zorya Webster (Corning, N.Y.) fired a team-leading four shots in the defeat, joining four other teammates with a shot on goal apiece.
Bishop-Manning made eight saves on 11 shots, drawing the loss for the Cadets. Colby-Sawyer's Sam Mitchell earned the shutout victory, making five saves.
Norwich hosts Johnson State College this Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. on Sabine Field.
