Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Norwich University baseball team traveled to Castleton University for a non-conference baseball contest Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans defeated the Cadets 15-0 in a game shortened by inclement weather.
The Castleton bats got to work early and often scoring three runs in the second inning, four in the third and three in the fourth for a 10-0 lead.
They added two in the fifth and three in the sixth before the game was called due to rain in the middle of the seventh inning.
The Spartans hit six home runs on the day.
Sophomore catcher Chris Leach (Vergennes, Vt.) and freshman second baseman Chris Dayos (Temecula, Calif.) chipped in the lone hits for Norwich on the afternoon.
Freshman Casey Lemke (Winter Garden, Fla.) took the loss for the Cadets to fall to 0-1 on the season. He allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits.
With the loss the Cadets fall to 6-15 overall. The Spartans now sit at 11-3. Norwich is next in action on Wednesday, April 12th for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader against Saint Joseph's College (Maine). Those contests are set for 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
