NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University women's basketball team opened up their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) schedule on Saturday afternoon, dropping a matchup with the Albertus Magnus Falcons by a 65-53 final score. 

The Cadets fell behind early and couldn't catch up to the Falcons, leading the lead three minutes into the first quarter and never gaining it back. Turnovers sank the Cadets, as Albertus Magnus turned 24 Cadets turnovers in 21 points to win this one by a wide margin. 

Senior Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) tried to do it all for another night, filling the stat sheet with a team-high 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) put on another solid performance with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. A solid defensive effort was foiled by foul trouble, as 30 Norwich personal fouls gave Albertus Magnus 35 free throw attempts on the night, of which 65.7% were converted (23-35). It was also a bad day from behind the 3-point line for the Cadets, as they mustered a 15% (3-20) effort from deep. Jill Johnson and Olivia Bolden led the Falcons of Albertus Magnus with 22 points and 7 rebounds each, along with Johnson adding in a team-high 6 assists. 

With the loss, Norwich falls to 3-5 on the year and 0-1 within the GNAC. They'll look to finish 2017 on a high note on Thursday the 12th against Castleton on the road, before a long break precludes their next GNAC game against Saint Joseph's (Maine) on January 6th of the new year.
