NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior midfielder Chapel Guarnieri (Pepperell, Mass.) scored a sock trick on six goals with freshman attacker Janae Somero (St. Albans, Vt.) posting seven points on four goals and three assists as the Norwich University women's lacrosse team powered past the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) (USJ), 15-2, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup Tuesday evening at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Staidum.

Freshman midfielder Kathryn Albretsen (Cotuit, Mass.) recorded a hat trick on the night, while juniors Kirstin Lortie (Winchendon, Mass.) and Holly Lutz (Hamburg, N.J.) each scored a goal with Lutz picking up an assist in the win.

Norwich (4-4, 1-2 GNAC) would open the night with 10 unanswered goals in the first 13:24 before sophomore attacker Danielle Bazzano (South Windsor, Conn.) drilled a shot into the back of the net to put the Blue Jays (3-4, 0-3) on the board. The Cadets would put up three more in the first half to lead 13-1 at the break before adding two final goals in the second half. USJ's freshman Rose St. Hilaire (West Hartford, Conn.) scored unassisted to give the Blue Jays their second goal of the game.

Freshman Janice Bolton (Stow, Mass.) picked up her first conference win and her fourth overall of her career after stopping two of four shots on the night with Guarineri forcing seven turnovers, seven ground balls and seven draw controls on the night. Sophomore Emily Bourassa (Bristol, Conn.) turned away eight of the 23 shots faced in goal for the Blue Jays, while forcing three caused turnovers and picking up five ground balls in the loss.

Norwich is back in action on Saturday, April 9 at Emmanuel College for the 12 p.m. GNAC contest. USJ will travel to Chicopee, Mass. College for the 4 p.m. non-conference matchup at Elms College.
