Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women's basketball team picked up its fourth straight win after defeating Norwich University, 77-41, on Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
The Cadets were led in scoring by sophomore guard Shyann Josler (Thetford, Vt.) with eight points, while junior forward Leanne Winans (Hudson, N.H.), sophomore forward Heather LeBlanc (Sanford, Maine), and freshman forward Vanessa Fleury (Lebanon, N.H.) scored six points apiece. Sophomore guard Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.) had a team-high seven rebounds in the loss.
Emmanuel's senior guard Sarah Higgins (Groveland, Mass.) and graduate forward Lena Negri (Arlington, Va.) scored 12 points apiece, while six other players scored six or more points for the Saints.
Emmanuel jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter before holding off the Cadets to just four points and adding 26 more of their own for the 43-13 halftime lead.
The Cadets looked to rebound in the second half but Emmanuel's strong defensive stops made it difficult to put the ball into the basket as Norwich shot just 1-of-13 from the floor in the third quarter as the Saints' margin lead swelled to 40 after 30 minutes of play.
Norwich managed to regroup in the final quarter, putting up a combine effort of 20 points, 8-of-13 from the field with two from beyond the arc but it would not be enough to generate a rally as the Saints scored 15 more points for the final score, 77-41.
The Cadets will look to get back into the win column on Saturday when they continue league play with a matchup on the road against Johnson & Wales University. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
