Box Score Men's Basketball: Lasell Stymie Norwich, 92-73
AUBURNDALE, Mass. – The Norwich University men's basketball team struggled to hit their marks against Lasell College and suffered a 92-73 setback in College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest Tuesday night.
Sophomore forward Joe Bertrand (Saugus, Mass.) led the team in scoring with 10 points off the bench along with classmate Ryan Booth (Northfield, Vt.) contributing nine points and four rebounds for the Cadets.
Senior Jimmy Warden (North Andover, Mass.) also netted nine points from the bench with freshman Chibuzor Ogbue (Framingham, Mass.) putting up eight points and five rebounds in the loss.
Trailing 51-27 at the half, the Cadets would not prevail quietly in the second half with Warden and Bertrand scoring all their points in the stanza off the bench, but the Lasers continued to pile on the points and led by 34 points at the 15 minute mark to put the game out of reach before the buzzer.
Norwich scored 17 points off of Lasell's turnovers but hit just 40.3 percent from the field. Lasell nailed 55.2 percent of its shots from the floor, including 18-of-22 from the stripe and scored 38 points in the paint. The Lasers would also lead the Cadets in rebounds, 42-27, and hit 10 shots from beyond the arc to extend the margin to 24 at the half.
Norwich will return to GNAC action at home on Saturday, Jan. 23 as they host Albertus Magnus for the 1 p.m. contest.
