SALEM, Mass. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches to Salem State and Bridgewater State on Saturday afternoon.

Norwich opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Bridgewater State and then followed up with a 3-1 loss to Salem State.

In its first match of the day, Bridgewater State downed NU by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-15 to improve to 6-9 on the season.

Bridgewater State was led by 14 kills from Sydney Bennett on a .600 attacking percentage.

Norwich was led by seven kills from freshman outside hitter Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio), while Adrianna Watrobski (Amsterdam, N.Y.) added four more. Alex Ruediger (Sandy Lake, Pa.) had a team-high 11 digs, while sophomore setter Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) had 14 assists.

Salem State downed the Cadets by scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-27 and 25-14 to improve to 3-8 on the season. The Vikings were led by 14 kills from Emily Peay and 11 more from Erika Santiago.

Oliver once again led Norwich with nine kills, while senior Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) added eight kills. Oliver also tallied a team-leading 14 digs, while Crane notched 20 assists.

Norwich is now 2-8 on the season and will return home for three straight matches, starting with Sept. 30 vs. Lyndon State. The Cadets will then take on Emmanuel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 and then another home match vs. Simmons on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.
