Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Plymouth State women's soccer team scored less than five minutes into Wednesday's match and then never looked back en route to a 4-0 win over Norwich in non-conference action on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.
Hannah Kallis scored twice for Plymouth State (3-1, 0-0 Little East), while Emily Bell added a goal and an assist to lead the Panther offense in the victory. Casey Lacroix also notched a goal for Plymouth State.
Lacroix gave Plymouth State the lead a little over four minutes into the match when she slipped the back into a wide open net after a bouncing ball in the penalty area eluded NU goalkeeper Holly Lutz (Hamburg, N.J.).
Bell made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute when a loose ball found its way to her at the top of the penalty area and she blasted it into an open net after Lutz came off her line to play the crossing pass.
Kallis scored her first of the night just a few minutes later when she collected her own rebound after a team save on the goal line by Morgan Ziegler. The ball rebounded right back to Kallis who knocked it home on the second attempt to make it 3-0 Panthers.
Kallis closed the scoring in the 88th minute after she was all alone on a 2-on-1 and buried a crossing pass from the right from Bell to cap the scoring.
Annaliese Schmidt stopped all four shots she saw to pick up the shutout victory and improve to 3-1 on the year. Lutz made her first appearance of the year in goal, making six saves to fall to 0-1.
Norwich falls to 1-3-1 on the year and will take on Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup.
