Box Score 2 STANDISH, Maine. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matches against Suffolk University and Saint Joseph's College of Maine, who hosted the tri-match on Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops Norwich to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the GNAC.
Freshman Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) led the team with seven kills, eight digs and a block solo. Senior Andrea Moreno (Newark, Del.), sophomore Adrianna Watrobski (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and freshman Emily Jordan (Dalton, Mass.) each recorded a pair of kills on the day, while Jordan led the team in digs with 18 and a block solo. Setter Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) would pick up 12 assists and three service aces in the two matches played.
The Cadets dropped the first match with a 3-0 loss to Suffolk University, despite the close scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-21. Oliver recorded a team-high seven kills, while Crane picked up 10 assists and Jordan managed 10 digs out of 41 digs combined by the team.
Norwich looked to pick up its first conference win of the season against the host, but Saint Joseph's .306 kill percentage was too much for the Cadets to handle as the Monks swept NU by scores of 25-6, 25-4, 25-9 to end the day.
The Cadets are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Southern Vermont for the 8:00 p.m. match.
