GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore forward Sarah Schwenzfeier (Hingham, Mass.) scored twice and added an assist for a three-point night to lead the Norwich University women's ice hockey team to a 3-0 win over Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

Schwenzfeier scored two first-period goals in a span of 2:58 to give Norwich (2-2-0, 2-0-0 NEHC) a lead that it would never look back from en route to extending its unbeaten streak against league opponents to 35 straight games.

Schwenzfeier also added a helper on an insurance goal in the third period from freshman Bryan Labbe (Calgary, Alberta) to round out the scoring on the game for the Cadets.

Junior goalie Celeste Robert (Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec) made 14 saves to pick up her second consecutive shutout victory in goal for Norwich.

Norwich went up 1-0 when Schwenzfeier threw a puck toward the net from the left wing corner that deflected into the net off a Southern Maine defenseman's stick at the 8:29 mark of the first period.

Schwenzfeier struck again for her fourth goal of the season with a snipe wrist shot from the left wing circle over the shoulder of the USM goalie to put the Cadets up 2-0 off an assist from Adelle Murphy (Roseau, Minn.).

The Cadets added to their lead with a 5-on-3 power play goal off some nice passing by Schwenzfeier and Madison Gallagher (Kirkland, Quebec) to set up Labbe for her second career goal.

Norwich outshot USM 22-14 for the game and will now return home to Kreitzberg Arena to host New England College and Plymouth State next Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively in two more NEHC contests.
