HANOVER, N.H. - The Norwich University women's rugby team scored twice in the first half and then held on in the second half for a 14-7 victory over Ivy League champion Dartmouth College in the National Collegiate Varsity Women's Rugby Association (NCVWRA) Varsity Cup Quarterfinals.
Norwich (4-5) got tries from sophomore Frankie Sands (Essex Junction, Vt.) and senior Ally Day (Gorham, Maine), as well as a successful conversion from Alanna Girardin (Worcester, Mass.) and Sheila Decker (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) en route to the upset victory.
Dartmouth (7-2) notched a try in the second half, but the Cadet defense held firm and shutout the Big Green the rest of the way.
With the win, Norwich punched its ticket to the Varsity Cup Final Four to be hosted by Brown University in Providence, R.I. next weekend.
