NORTHFIELD, Vt. - After a fifth place finish at the Ithaca College Invitational, the Norwich University wrestling team is ranked eighth in the first coaches poll of the New England Wrestling Association.
The Cadets earned 27 points, while Roger Williams University earned the top-ranked spot with 13 first place votes for 147 points. Johnson & Wales is second with two first place votes for 133 points followed by Williams College in third with 124 points to round out the top three.
Norwich were led by newcomer Jacob Forsman (Voorhees, N.J.) at 125. Forsman lost in the Quarters to two-time National Qualifier Jimmy Kaishian 14-11, but came back for third place beating Wayne Yuan of New York University, 9-2. Forsman went 5-1 with three pins. Pat McCurdy (Alloway, N.J.) took fifth at 165 for the Cadets. McCurdy went 4-2 and all four of his wins were by falls. Bryan Giblin (Georgetown, Mass.) took fourth at 197 for Norwich. Giblin went 4-2 enroute to his fourth place finish and had two pins. Both of his loses came at the hands of Dan Glinko of Ithaca College.
The Cadets are back in action tonight on the road at Plymouth State University for the 7:00 p.m. dual meet.
