Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the visiting Lyons of Mount Holyoke College by scores of 25-12, 25-17, 19-25 and 25-13. With the win, Mount Holyoke improves to 7-12 on the year, while the Cadets fall to 4-13 overall.
Senior outside hitter Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) led the Cadets' offensive attack with 11 kills and two service aces with a block assists, while freshman Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) put up seven kills and four digs with a block assists on the night.
Sophomore setter Katie Crane (Avon, N.Y.) achieved a career milestone of 1,000 career assists after collecting 19 on the night. Senior Andrea Moreno (Newark, Del.) led the team with seven digs as sophomore Adrianna Watrobski (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and junior libero Kristen Brewer (Hopedale, Mass.) came up with six digs each.
Mount Holyoke was led by freshman Jamesa Allen (Orlando, Fla.) with a team-high 16 kills and four total blocks, while senior Emma Sweeting (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) posted 10 kills, three service aces and eight digs. Junior setter Natalie Lyon (Oakton, Va.) came up with 31 assists and five digs, while freshman Sarah Caggiano (Leonardtown, Md.) collected a team-high 11 digs on the night for the Lyons.
Norwich will travel to West Hartford, Conn. for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match, taking on Lasell College in the opening round before closing the day against the host, the University of St. Joseph (Conn.).
