Box Score 2 NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team was swept in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall Gym.
Playing for the first time at home this season, Norwich (3-7) got off to a quick start with back-to-back set wins against Husson (4-12) by scores of 25-17 and 25-23. However, the Eagles came storming back to win the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-15 and 15-6 to steal the victory away from the Cadets.
Seniors Alex Palmer (South Windsor, Conn.) and Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.), along with junior Angie Hershberger (Felton, Calif.) each tallied seven kills for Norwich. Senior Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) notched six kills and six service aces as well for the Cadets. Freshman Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) had 29 assists for Norwich. Baita led Norwich with 11 digs in the Husson match.
In the second match, Bridgewater State (9-6) swept Norwich in straight sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-18.
Palmer led the Cadets with seven kills, while Mancini added six and Hershberger tallied four. Crane had 19 assists and Palmer led the way defensively with 10 digs.
Norwich will look to get back on track when it hosts Southern Vermont on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Andrews Hall Gym.
