Box Score SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Norwich University volleyball team fell 3-0 to Division II-foe St. Michael's College on Wednesday night in non-conference action at the Ross Sports Center.
St. Michael's (4-2) swept Norwich in straight sets by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-16 to claim the victory.
Norwich (3-5) was led by junior outside hitter Tara Lyons (Pocassett, Mass.), who tallied six kills and had a .357 attacking percentage. Freshman setter Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) had 14 assists, while senior Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.) and freshman Alma Turpin (Sterling, Va.) each had four kills to round out the Cadets' offensive leaders.
Sophomore libero Alex Ruediger (Sandy Lake, Pa.) tallied a team-high 14 digs to lead Norwich's defense. Baita had eight digs and Turpin added five more to supplement Ruediger's efforts.
St. Michael's had a balanced offensive attack with Candace Washington leading the way with nine kills and a .438 attacking percentage. Kelsey Flaherty added eight more kills and Megan Mulvaney posted seven kills to round out the Purple Knights' leaders. Catie Weller notched 34 assists for St. Michael's.
Norwich hosts Husson and Bridgewater State in a non-league tri-match this weekend at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Andrews Hall Gym.
