Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Norwich University volleyball team swept Castleton State 3-0 on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Glenbrook Gymnasium.
Norwich (13-12) won by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-14 in its final regular season non-conference match of the season.
Seniors Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.) each recorded 10 kills to lead the Norwich offense. Mancini had a .318 hitting percentage, while Baita posted a .350 average. Classmate Alex Palmer (South Windsor, Conn.) had a team-leading .438 hitting percentage to go along with nine kills.
Freshman Alma Turpin (Sterling, Va.) chipped in with seven kills and junior Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) added six kills to round out the Cadets' attack leaders. Freshman Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) paced the offense with 36 assists.
Turpin led Norwich's defensive efforts with seven digs, while Baita had six. Palmer and sophomore Kristen Brewer (Hopedale, Mass.) each had five digs for the Cadets as well. Turpin also led Norwich with four service aces on the day.
Norwich closes out the regular season with two more GNAC matches on Saturday vs. Suffolk and Emmanuel at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
