Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H – The Norwich University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 non-conference match to Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday night at Coffin Field House.
Colby-Sawyer (21-8) won by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and squeaked out a 26-24 victory in the third set to take the match in straight sets.
Freshman Alma Turpin (Sterling, Va.) led Norwich (11-11) with six kills and 15 digs, as well as a .294 attacking percentage in one of her strongest matches to date for the Maroon & Gold.
Senior Alex Palmer (South Windsor, Conn.) and junior Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) each had five kills for Norwich to round out its attack leaders. Senior Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.) and freshman Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) had 10 and seven assists respectively to lead Norwich's set-up team.
Jackie Keating led Colby-Sawyer with 16 kills and Stephanie Vecchio added 10 more kills for the Chargers. Lexi Strong had 15 digs for Colby-Sawyer to lead its defensive efforts.
Norwich returns to action with a GNAC trimatch on Saturday at Albertus Magnus. The Cadets also will face Rivier as well.
