Box Score 2 NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University volleyball team split a GNAC tri-match on Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall Gym.
Norwich (10-9, 3-2 GNAC) was swept in straight sets by Johnson & Wales in its opener, before rallying to beat Mount Ida 3-1 in the second match of the day.
Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) and Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) each had seven kills to lead the Norwich offense in the Mount Ida match. Sophomore Alex Ruediger had 17 digs for the Cadets as well to lead the defense, while Katherine Crane (Avon, N.Y.) led the team in assists.
In the Johnson & Wales' match, Norwich dropped the first set 26-24 and then couldn't recover dropping the following two sets as well.
Lyons led Norwich with six kills. Angie Hershberger had a team-leading 13 digs.
Norwich returns to action next weekend when it travels to Simmons for another GNAC tri-match with Simmons and Saint Joseph's (Maine.).
