Women's Basketball: Curry Named to NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll

NORTHFIELD, Vt.—Junior guard Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) has been named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week Honor Roll, as announced by the association on Monday evening.

It marks the second time this season that Curry has earned this weekly honor. Curry was also named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Honor Roll yesterday.

Curry averaged 25 points per game in a 2-1 week for the Cadets. She totaled a week-high of 32 points in Norwich's 72-65 win against in-state rival Middlebury before adding a 24-point performance against Saint Joseph's (ME). She also netted 19 points against Mount Ida on Monday. Curry shot an impressive 44.8 percent (26-58) from the floor and hit 11-28 (39.3 percent) from three-point range. The junior guard also added nine rebounds, 12 assists, and eight steals on the week. 

As the Cadets leading scorer this season, Curry contributes an average of 21.5 points per game. She has netted 322 points on the season on 36.1 percent shooting from the floor and 36.9 percent shooting from three-point range. Curry has hit a team-leading 31 three-pointers and 91 free-throws this season.

Curry also leads the team in assists (48) and steals (32). She has had a hand, either in scoring or assisting, on 27 percent of Norwich field goals this season.

The Cadets (7-8, 1-3 GNAC) will be in action three times this week, beginning on the road on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against non-conference opponent Lyndon State. Norwich will then host Simmons and Rivier on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m., respectively.
