GORHAM, Maine – The No. 4-ranked Norwich University women's hockey team remained perfect in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East action with a 2-1 victory over Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon at the USM Ice Arena.

Norwich (12-3-0, 8-0-0 ECAC East) got goals from Shalyn Pavlisko (Oshawa, Ontario) and Maggie Cross (Wattsburg, Pa.), while junior goalie Taylor Fairchild (Overland Park, Kansas) made 16 saves as the Cadets picked up a big victory over the second-place Huskies in the league standings.

Pavlisko staked the Cadets to an early 1-0 lead at the 5:21 mark of the first period with her second tally of the season off an assist from Elle Kadel (Fairbanks, Alaska).

Cross made it 2-0 just 2:39 into the second period with a power-play tally off assists from Kaycie Anderson (Maple Plaine, Minn.) and Haley Gibson (Richmond, Ontario).

Southern Maine (9-7-1, 6-2-0 ECAC East) cut into the lead late in the second period when Lynn Kozlowski scored her second of the season unassisted.

However, that's as close as Southern Maine would get as the Cadets buckled down in the third period to emerge with the crucial two points.

Liz Bergstrom made 16 saves for Southern Maine to take the loss and fall to 7-4-1. Fairchild improved to 7-2-0 for Norwich.

Norwich continues its road trip with three more games away from Kreitzberg Arena over the next 10 days. The Cadets travel to UMass-Boston (7-7-3, 3-5-0 ECAC East) and Saint Anselm (14-2-0, 7-1-0 ECAC East) next weekend for a pair of ECAC East contests.
