Box Score UTICA, N.Y. – The Norwich University women's ice hockey team snapped its mini-two-game slide with a 4-2 victory over Utica College on Saturday afternoon at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
Norwich (10-3-0, 6-0-0 ECAC East) got a pair of goals from senior forward Tori Charron (Tecumseh, Ontario), as well as a goal each from junior Kaycie Anderson (Maple Plain, Minn.) and senior Emily MacKinnon (Kirkland, Quebec) to round out its offensive leaders.
Utica's Megan Myers gave the Pioneers (9-3-0, 4-2-0 ECAC West) a 1-0 lead at the 11:10 mark of the first period to give the Pioneers the lead heading into the first intermission. However, Charron answered with her 13th goal of the season on the power play to knot the game up in the second period. Taylor Cross (Saugus, Mass.) and Brittany Sharman (Ayer's Cliff, Quebec) picked up assists on the goal.
Anderson netted her third goal of the season unassisted to give Norwich the lead just over five minutes into the third. But, Utica responded at the 14:14 mark of the third with Nicole Keiffer scoring her first of the year off an assist from Louise Steele-Norton.
MacKinnon scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal just 1:24 later off an assist from Charron. Charron capped the scoring with 1:15 left with an empty-net power play tally off an assist from Maggie Cross (Wattsburg, Pa.).
Freshman goalie Celeste Robert (Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec) made her first collegiate start and picked up the win, stopping 26 shots for the Cadets.
